About Me

Posted by admin on August 8, 2007 | 21 Comments

I founded the informational site Go Dairy Free in 2004, wrote the limited edition guide Dairy Free Made Easy in 2006, and followed up with a sequel in late 2008, Go Dairy Free: The Guide and Cookbook for Milk Allergies, Lactose Intolerance, and Casein-Free Living.

While my cooking is always dairy-free, I wanted an outlet for my other foodie passion, value. Honestly, I love food…Good food.  Don’t think for a minute that this is a cheapo top ramen site.  However, both my husband and I have a love for finding the best deals possible and creating inexpensive meals that suit special diets such as our own.  The very idea of paying more than we have to for absolutely anything elicits horrific looks of pain and torture.

So, follow me along as I learn to cook, continue to bake, share every good deal, meal, and idea I can find, and prove that special diets (dairy-free, gluten-free, etc.) can actually be less expensive while tasting great!  Oh yes, please do feel free to share your own ideas and recipes too.

Questions?  Feel free to contact me via this page.  Just ask for Alisa.

    Hi
I have just come across this blog today and think it is great. I have built my own website called frugal living tips and one of the areas is frugal cooking. What i was hope for was that vistors would come and submit their own frugal recipes etc. I was wondering if i could use several of your recipes on my site, the pages would include a link to your site so that you would benefit from search engine link popularity.
I hope you will allow me to do this or if you prefer you could submit them yourself. Your recipes are great and would benefit my vistors. The pages for my frugal cooking tips is here http://www.frugal-living-tips.com/frugal-recipes.html it contains a link to the submit form.
I hope to hear from you soon and i hope you didn’t mind me contacting you like this but i am trying to find quality links and content so i am contacting people indivdually.
Anyway i hope to hear from you soon. Kate

I totally agree with you, eating well/healthy shouldn’t be expensive and the best part is that you can prepare it in the comfort of our own home with a touch of creativity!

  16. Hi Alisa,
Love your website name and especially love your site. Im going to make the strawberry smoothie you posted. I am lucky to not have food alergies, but I like the idea of not using a lot of gluten products when cooking. My friend and fellow blogger gasp now when something is expensive in a resturaunt and we can make it at home so much quicker. I am going to try a bunch of your recipes and blog about them.
