**Entries are now closed. Winner to be announced on Nov 10th!**
As we head into the season of indulgences … holiday parties, gifts of fudge, cookie parties, gingerbread houses, appetizer platters, and well, you get the idea … I thought a little nutrition might be in order. While you can’t negate that rum-spiked punch and those decadent truffles, you can start your day off right with a good dose of organic, whole-grain deliciousness.
Not a breakfast person? This prize package also lends itself useful in creating wonderful recipes, from crispy coatings to delicious snack bars (of course, some recipes are forthcoming … perhaps a week’s worth of inspirations?). How you use this jam-packed gift is up to you, in fact, the winner even gets to choose their prizes!
One of you will win a two month’s supply (8 full-size boxes) of U.S. Mills brand cereal products of your choosing – hot or cold; Erewhon, New Morning, or Uncle Sam’s brands; flaked, sweetened, or in a bar format; gluten-free, vegan, and/or soy-free – they are all available to you!
But wait, there is more! The winner will also receive:
- A Patagonia T-Shirt from U.S. Mills
- A Convenient Little Coupon Keeper (perhaps with some awesome cereal coupons included?) – I have one, and it is so perfectly sized for trips to the store.
If I could win (which I can’t), I would go for the following assortment:
- Erewhon Organic Corn Flakes (so verstile) – see my review
- Erewhon Organic Crispy Brown Rice (a must for no-bake goodies) – review and recipes on deck!
- Erewhon Strawberry Crisp Cereal (we devoured this) – see my review
- Erewhon Kamut® Flakes (so unique, I loved them) – see my review
- New Morning Original Oatios (love the simplicity, but the Fruit-e-O’s are probably yummy too) – see my review
- Erewhon Maple Spice Instant Oatmeal (warm, comforting AND low in sugar) – see my review
- Uncle Sam Instant Oatmeal (cool weather, hearty goodness) – see my review
- New Morning Cocoa Crispy Rice (for my choco-holic husband) – we haven’t tried this one yet!
But half the fun is picking your own variety pack! So …
To enter to win:
- Leave a comment here telling me, “Which cereals and/or bars you would pick if you won?‘ Head over to the U.S. Mills website and check out the Erewhon, Uncle Sam’s, and New Morning product lines to get a gander at all of the organic and natural products you have to choose from.

oatios. because the name is badass.
This is so awesome! I posted about it on my Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/debra.schiff#/deb.schiff?ref=nf.
I’d choose Erewhon organic crispy brown rice. It’s wonderful. I use it in all kinds of things from granola to bread crumbs.
I’d also pick Erewhon Kamut flakes because I haven’t yet tried them and they look tasty. I’m also a long-time fan of the classic Uncle Sam Cereal. So yummy.
The no-added sweeteners Corn Flakes are so good, they’d also have to be on my list. These are excellent as a snack just plain out of the box!
OK. Now I’m hungry.
I would choose:
Erewhon Corn Flakes (and make my cherry wink cookies with them)
Uncle Sam Instant Oatmeal
Erewhon Maple Spice Instant Oatmeal
Brown Rice Cream
and the Strawberry Crisp
I would probably double up on the oatmeal. Love Maple oatmeal in the morning!
Great giveaway!
Lets see for us: Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice with Mixed Berries (my daughter would LOVE that), the plain Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice to add to my granola (yummy crunch), probably the Erewhon Cocoa Crispy Brown Rice (to make crispy rice treats, that just sounds like a winner), and the Erewhon Brown Rice Cream (for when the baby is ready for solids).
Awesome giveaway! We love these products although availablility around us is limited.
I’d choose any of the gluten free varieties, we love the ones with the berries! But I would definitely explore new ones we haven’t tried yet, like the instant oatmeal.
Blogged about it here. http://theapocalypsecow.blogspot.com/2009/11/2-month-breakfast-supply-giveaway.html
I’d love to try the strawberry crisp cereal or Kamut flakes! Or, who am I kidding, the cocoa crispies because I’d totally make…well, the recipe that I’ll post next in another comment.
Okay! Recipe (it’s not my original creation, but modified from vegweb)
1 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon Earth Balance
1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
6 cups puffed rice cereal (cocoa would be good!)
Directions:
Heat the syrup in a pot over medium heat, then add the sugar to the pot. Stir continuously for a few minutes, reducing temperature if it looks like it’s frothing. When it starts to look like its boiling add the margarine, stir till evenly mixed, then add the vanilla, still stirring. If you notice that the syrup/sugar mixture does not boil you can turn up the heat, or just add the margarine and the rest of the ingredients after a few minutes it will still work fine, just make sure to spend a few minutes stirring the syrup and sugar before adding the other ingredients).
As the syrup and sugar are on the stove in the very large bowl measure out about 5 cups of the cereal.
Pour the heated mixture over the syrup and began stirring with the spatula making sure to evenly combine the ingredients. You might want to add another cup or more of the cereal, depending on the amount of saturation your looking for (I find about 6 cups of cereal allows all the cereal to be covered in syrup but not too gooey: still crispy.)
When stirred to satisfaction, pour the cereal on to the wax paper, using the spatula to push it into a large rectangle, approximately an inch or so thick.
There’s also a raisin bran muffin recipe I love, in the book Yellow Rose Recipes (probably can’t repost it here, but it might also be good with those strawberry flakes cereal!)
Would pick the Cocoa Krispies healthy version, of course! Gluten free AND chocolate? Be still my heart!
kamut flakes, apple cinnamon oatios, crispy brown rice (i have a Peanut butter rice crispy treat recipe I Have to try) and original Uncle Sam cereal.
Recipe. Well, this is not “healthy” b/c it is topped with a mini H’Ween candy bar, but scroll on down here to Butterfinger Oats.

Shameless tweet about this contest ’cause I want some free cereal! http://bit.ly/sk3XT
And I am tweeting this now 🙂

I think that Brown Rice Cream sounds good. Is that like Cream of Wheat? I used to have that all the time at my Grandmother’s house. I should pick up a box just for some nostalgia…
Now this is a great giveaway! I have a lot I would like to try, but for now, my choices would be…Strawberry Crisp cereal, Raisin Bran cereal, Crunchy Corn and Amaranth cereal, Crispy Brown Rice cereal gluten free, Crispy Brown Rice with Mixed Berries, Corn Flakes, Cocoa Crispy Brown Rice and Brown Rice Cream.
I would go for the painfully simple cereal recipe… Cocoa Crispy Rice Squares, but I think I would throw in a variation or two.
The usual ingredients:
butter
marshmallows
Rice Crispies (in this case cocoa crispy rice)
But, I think I would mix in some of my halloween candy. 🙂 Maybe some mini Reese’s peanut butter cups, or cut up Milky Way or something.
Yum!!
I would definitely get the Cocoa Crispy Brown Rice, for snacks and also for my husband. I would try the Raisin Bran for mornings for me. I’d get the Oatmeal Raisin bars and Chocolate Graham Snacks for snacks. Okay, this is making me hungry – thanks for the giveaway! 🙂
I would like to try the brown rice cream-but they all sound good. What an awesome giveaway!
I tweeted for you!! I also follow you (@butterjessfly)
I would (and will!) totally get Fruit-e-os; my soft spot- as a “healthy eater”- is fruity, sugary cereal.
okay, for my recipe:
Granola- makes 1 ½ gallons
Heat:
1c oil
½ c honey
¼ c br. Sugar
½ c OJ concentrate
In a separate bowl, mix:
1c oat bran
2c sesame seeds
¼ c wheat germ
6c rolled oats
6c 6grain cereal
Method:
-Add separate ingredients to heated ingredients and mix thoroughly
-Spread in thin layers on greased cookie sheets
-Bake at 200˚ for 50-60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
I’m a total sucker for instant oatmeal 🙂 I would definitely go for the variety pack!
Oooh…
Definitely some Uncle Sam with berries
How about a box of those Uncle Sam bars? They’re not quite as healthy, but I bet they’re yummy!
New Morning mini bites of the chocolate grahams
Oatios
Crispy Brown Rice with Berries
Cocoa Crispy Brown Rice
Kamut Flakes
Cinnamon / Raisin / Flax instant oatmeal
Barley Plus
Uh oh. That’s nine. I’d have to see which of these my husband would like the best. =)

🙂
Yum! I’m a big fan of the basic Uncle Sam Cereal and the New Morning Cocoa Crispy Rice makes very good rice cereal treats. I’d like to try the Uncle Sam vanilla oatmeal with soymilk because Alex is interested in eating oatmeal again now that it’s getting cold. For my other three: Uncle Sam Instant Oatmeal, Erewhon Brown Rice Cereal and Apple Cinnamon Oatios.
Added to Facebook as well.
I’ve been wanting to try Uncle Sam’s cereal for so long!
Cocoa Crispy Rice, Oatios and Strawberry Crisp are the ones that stand out for me. My kids would FLIP over the Cocoa Crispy Rice since I never let them have the other stuff sold under a similar name 😉 I tweeted about this contest (foodiewithfam). Cereal is hard to keep in the house with five kids! Eight boxes is a week and a half around here, but it would surely be appreciated!
Thanks for running such a neat contest!
oatios and oatmeal all the way.
I would choice:
Erewhon Corn Flakes, New Morning Oaties, and
the organic Instant (maple spice) oatmeal.
I live in a small town, and my choices of gluten free cereals is very limited.
These are just a few that I can NOT get here.

Cocoa Crispy Rice because-HELLO-Cocoa!!!!
I would choose
Erewhon Corn Flakes and the Crispy brown rice.
Both great products for me and my daughter.
Thanks!
Oooh I’ve heard good things about the Erewhon cereals! The strawberry crisp sounds delightful 🙂
My cheap, easy, go-to morning cereal is what I like to call a “cheater granola.” I bascially take a piece of fruit, ideally a frozen banana, peach, pear, or apple and nuke it for 1 to 1.5 minutes with 1/2 t of vanilla extract. Then I add:
1/4 c old-fashioned oats
1/4 c cereal (like Grape Nuts, corn flakes, etc)
1T brown sugar
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 t nutmeg
1/8 t cardamom
1/2 t flax seeds
and then I stir it all up and eat! Sometimes I add a dash of tea or milk. I also play with the flavor combos all the time- lately pumpkin pie spice has been the favorite.
Oh geez the combos are endless here…let’s see
Uncle Sam with mixed berries
Kamut Flakes
Gluten Free Krispy brown rice
Hmm the rest or if I would get mutliples of those is debatable!
I <3 Oatios. Best Cheerio's replacement ever.
i would love to win erewhon kamut flakes or original instant oatmeal!
my favorite breakfast recipe:
Oats + steamed and chopped kabocha + water + cinnamon!
SIMPLE and YUM!
I would go for the brown rice cream! I love hot cereals in the morning.
Recipe: Quaker oat bran with heated vanilla almond milk…..yummmmmm
Yeah….those look awesome! ! !
Great giveaway! If I did win, I’d let my son choose whatever gluten-free cereals/products he’d like. He loves his cereal and was just diagnosed with celiac disease last week. So we’re all for testing products!
Shared with my friends on Facebook.
I would pick to try the New Morning Oatieos (original and apple cinnamon) and Honey Graham mini bites , the Erewhon Kamut Flakes, Aztec Corn, Instant oatmeal with added oat bran, and Uncle Sam Cereal bars.
For entry #2 – i emailed everyone I know to enter!
And my favorite (lately) breakfast recipe (for #3): oats, salsa, steamed broccoli and nutritional yeast. So good, and so easy!
Ohh fun! After browsing around, a few I’d like to try are New Morning Fruit-e-O’s, mini bites choc. graham snacks, and grahamwich choc and PB. Uncle Sam’s french vanilla instant cereal. And Erewhon’s crispy brown rice w/ berries, raisin bran, maple spice instant oatmeal anddd strawberry crisp. I think that’s 8? Yes!
I posted on my blog and I tweeted! 🙂
I would pick the uncle sam for sure. But more importantly, I would try a variety of different selections, to see which ones my son would like the best. He has been dairy free for 2 months. I am very proud of him; it is difficult at times for a seven year old!
